Six new small enterprises to benefit from UNDP’s business linkages project
A new business linkage was sealed on October 16th 2008 between a Transnational Corporate company –Toyota Uganda, and 6 Micro and Small Enterprises, as part of UNDP’s business linkages project implemented by Entreprise Uganda.
The Business Linkage project aims at establishing business linkages between bigger companies (TNCs) and the small companies (MSMES) in order to create a win –win situation where the MEMS are groomed by Enterprise Uganda to be able to consistently meet the demands of the TNCS, there by growing their incomes and production levels.
At the same time, the TNCs as who benefit from stable, consistent and quality dealings from the MSMEs, are then able to enjoy smooth production.
A dynamic SME sector is thus created by these linkages which bond the TNCs with indigenous SMEs through technology transfer, assurance of markets, efficiency building and in so doing attract Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).
This latest linkage was finalized during a breakfast meeting at the Serena Hotel.
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Toyota Uganda‘s Managing Director, Mr. Ian Walker and each of the 6 MSMES; Super Clean Ltd, Hot Sun Motors Ltd, RH Hardware, Hadji Abdu Kizito & Sons ltd, Meshach Enterprises, and R.K. Hardware; all service providers of Toyota Uganda.
The MoU was endorsed by the Implementing partner, Enterprise Uganda’s representative Charles Ocici, and co –partner, Uganda Investment Authority’s Prof. Maggie Kigozi, with UNDP, the Patron, looking on.
